The first action of the NET-IDEA awareness-raising component started in the city of Lublin (Poland), partner of the NET-IDEA Project, financed by the European Commission’s CERV Programme and coordinated by ICEI in close cooperation with a European partnership.
44 young people from 14 cities in 6 European countries of the NET-IDEA Network, joined as special guests by 6 young people from 6 Ukrainian cities under siege, gathered in Lublin in early October for the I European Youth Anti-Rumours Summit. Within a rich programme of reflection/debate actions and city awareness-raising events, the Lublin summit not only represents the profound international, European nature of the project’s actions, but is also the privileged platform on which the value base of the communication campaign, which will be launched in Botkyrka (Sweden) in April 2024, during the NET-IDEA final event, was built.
After an intensive period of intercultural competence-building with a sectoral focus on youth policies and spaces for youth protagonism, NET-IDEA opens its doors to direct and synergetic collaboration with the various forms and realities of the world of youth protagonism and activism in the field of anti-rumours and anti-discrimination.
The three intense days of activities organised in Lublin, European Youth Capital, provided privileged spaces for exchange, training on anti-rumour strategies and new narratives, hate speech and building local impact actions.
With a proactive, lucid and hopeful attitude, the young people were able to share their stories of marginalisation and discrimination, offering a key to understanding society that invites greater protagonism and activism in solidarity on the part of the young people who are obliged to imagine themselves and for the adults as well, a more inclusive and diverse world. The stories, reflections and strategies of these young people have given rise to a clear and irreversible pronouncement: young people are the future, our identity is fluid and together we will change the rules! In fact, the assembly of anti-rumours youngsters drew up and approved the I Manifesto of European Anti-Rumours Youths, with ambitious goals, urgent priorities and a plan of local actions that the young people committed themselves to implement within their spaces of activism and in the cities where they live. This important result, the contents of which will be disseminated within the local awareness-raising actions of the project and thanks to the communication campaign, made it possible to take a further step forward, imagining the creation of the I European Anti-Rumours Youth Network.
It is already among the ideas of the NET-IDEA co-ordination to support the organisation of an upcoming online summit of the European Youth Anti-Rumours Network and the opportunity is also being considered through a huge collective effort to have a representation of this new and important network for the closing activities of the project in Sweden.
WE ARE MANY THINGS! WE ARE 100% OURSELVES AND WE BELONG HERE!
