The TERESA project, TEchnology for Rural Electrification in Sub-Saharan Africa, contributes to ensuring universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services in Mozambique, in line with SDG 7 “Accessible and clean energy”.
In particular, it contributes for the geographical area of reference to the objectives set by 2030 to “guarantee
universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services “and to” strengthen international cooperation to facilitate access to research and clean energy technology “.
TERESA intends to consolidate international cooperation relations between key stakeholders engaged in the rural electrification of developing countries (local public institutions, civil society and research institutes) and provide a concrete contribution to the path of universalization of access to energy in Mozambique.
Thanks to the project, the stakeholders in the energy sector and development in general will have the tools and knowledge to design and implement data-driven, replicable and scalable strategies for accessing energy in Zambezia (Mozambique).

The project develops includes:
1. Extension of the potential of the Vania and Gisele tools Mapping of decision-making processes Improvement of the VANIA (VANIA -Villages ANalytics In Africa) and GISEle (GIS for Electrification) tools to facilitate electrification planning, thanks to a user-friendly interface. Validation of results through field tests thanks to a comparison process with feedback up to convergence.
2. Development of a master plan for the rural electrification of Zambezia Characterization of the target area as a tool for assessing the energy needs of communities and available renewable sources. Sizing of energy generation, storage and distribution systems based on aggregate data, elaboration of a masterplan for the electrification of Zambezia Creation of a platform for data visualization at the service of local and international stakeholders
3. Training of stakeholders for the use of the platform
