100 Ideas is a programme dedicated to young people aged between 14 and 35, aimed at creating 130 micro-projects through professional support, training and financial contributions. The initiative aims to promote the activation and empowerment of the younger generation, with a particular focus on marginalised contexts, by supporting the realisation of their ideas.

The programme aims to encourage young people to take a leading role and participate in the city of Milan, encouraging the formation of groups capable of proposing and implementing innovative projects. Thanks to strong links with the local area and experience in social innovation, the project aims to develop a network of individuals who can guide and support youth groups, offering them the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice and bring their ideas, imagination and drive to bear in the implementation of concrete actions for an inclusive city.

The ideas that will be supported will not be a simple aggregation of elements, but a real ecosystem that will welcome all possible aspirations and give voice to the multiplicity of ideas and identities to make young people the architects of change.

Starting from this impetus, 100 Ideas creates forms of support that can include young people with different levels of maturity in expressing their needs and recognising their value to the city in the construction of solid projects. It also aims to create a strong local network that supports youth leadership while providing access to spaces where the groups involved can also meet in person.

Ecosistema 100 pays particular attention to young people living in areas of the city with specific characteristics and vulnerabilities, in order to help make Milan an inclusive city that puts young people at the centre as agents of change.

100 Idee aims to create an inclusive system to help strengthen the role of young people as active participants in the city of Milan, through the creation of an educational community of mentors who will support groups of young people in realising their ideas, with a particular focus on those living in marginalised conditions and experiencing educational poverty.

The project aims to:

1) Support groups of young people in developing skills

2) Connect groups of young people with support networks and local organisations

3) Make public spaces accessible to provide a venue for meeting and action

The beneficiaries of the project are:

Formal and informal groups of young people (aged 14-35) residing or active in the city of Milan, with a particular focus on young people with fewer opportunities

Entities identified as mentors who will accompany the groups of young people in the implementation of their ideas (individuals with local roots and/or technical and thematic expertise)

Indirect beneficiaries:

Local entities working to activate young people, which will benefit from the ecosystem promoted by the project in terms of collaboration with similar or complementary entities.

Project activities

The main activities of the project are:

  • Through recruitment, selection and training activities, a Mentor Register is created, which includes local organisations and entities that support groups of young people in defining and implementing their ideas.
  • By analysing the needs and requirements of the groups of young people and the skills available, a coherent match is created between the Mentor organisation and the group of young people.
  • To support the development of youth leadership, an educational and local community is created through community practices and training courses.
  • Interception and activation of a Register of Spaces to provide youth groups with a physical meeting place: youth groups and mentors are guided in getting to know and using the spaces.
  • Through local activities and public events, the mobilisation of organisations and institutions in the city that work directly with young people and youth groups is promoted.
  • Training and support for youth groups through mentoring activities, provision of a “toolbox” to support the entire cycle of project implementation, a system of evaluation meetings and training sessions based on a non-formal education approach.
