Milan Youth Orientation Network is a project aimed at people aged 14 to 35 living in the Milan area who are experiencing vulnerability or who need guidance, support, and concrete opportunities for growth.
The project’s goal is to develop and strengthen an ecosystem of local organizations working closely with younger generations, fostering connections and making the project’s opportunities fully accessible: a team of professionals providing individualized support, specialist guidance services, language mediation, workshop and experiential activities, individual grants, and a constantly updated map of opportunities across the territory.
In addition to expanding the local network and offering high-intensity support pathways, the project provides a wide range of small-group workshops designed to effectively meet the needs of each participant.
The Network also promotes active participation through the Young Advisory Group, a space composed of young practitioners, youth organizations, representatives of service beneficiaries, and youth editorial groups. This body enables the Network to maintain a constant dialogue with the real needs and aspirations of the people involved, helping to shape activities in a thoughtful and participatory way.
The project aims to coordinate and systematize citywide services and initiatives targeting young people aged 14 to 35 who are experiencing vulnerability or who are in a phase of decision-making, transition, or search for new opportunities—often feeling disoriented or having dropped out of education, training, or employment pathways.
The initiative offers individual support through personalized case management, specialist guidance services, counseling, language mediation, and workshop-based and experiential activities. These are complemented by a continuously updated map of opportunities available across the city.
The project targets young people aged 14 to 35 living in the Milan area who are experiencing vulnerability or disorientation, or who have disengaged from education, training, or employment pathways.
Project activities
The project aims to consolidate and systematically organize the network of local organizations working closely with younger generations, in order to enhance their capacity to reach a more diverse group of potential beneficiaries and to ensure a stronger, more widespread presence across the territory. It also identifies dedicated access points, designed as guidance hubs and physical spaces where people can connect with the Milan Youth Network.
This integrated network enables access to the opportunities offered by the project, particularly individualized support pathways managed by multidisciplinary teams composed of case managers, language mediators, and specialized professionals who can be involved as needed (such as psychologists, school guidance counselors, and counselors).
Project partners offer a wide range of small-group workshops designed to meet the needs of young people in vulnerable situations: guidance, re-orientation and re-motivation pathways; mentorship and skills assessment activities; interventions dedicated to young people with a migratory background (such as newly arrived individuals in Italy); short professionalizing workshops; expressive and narrative activities; digital skills and employability training; civic education and participation initiatives; as well as activities focused on well-being and mental health.
The project also includes individual grants, resources allocated in a personalized way to concretely support the defined pathway, strengthen personal skills, and provide the tools necessary to achieve the agreed objectives.
