This action is part of a multi-year path leading to the start and strengthening  services for Latin American migrants  who wish to return to their countries, by providing support both in the pre-departure phase and in the process of reintegration in their countries of origin. In particular, the Latin American countries covered by the project are: Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay

Favoring a sustainable return through customized mechanisms of psychological, social, educational and work reintegration, by using resources provided by public policies and/or private organizations to enable returned people to start, follow and finalize successful paths of social and work reintegration.
The project responds to the need of supporting reintegration both in the departure country (Italy, Spain and Portugal) and in the destination country, in a customized way and evaluating the specific needs of each individual and group, in order to enhance cooperation between the bodies who support the returnee in each step of the process.

  • Women and men (and their children) in conditions of vulnerability, with low schooling and professional skills, difficulties in certifying their work experience in Europe, weak social and family networks in their countries of origin.
  • People requiring welfare, psychological or health care support.
  • People who are planning to return due to loss of job and drying up of income sources.
  • Women victim of gender violence and/or trafficking and their children.

A total of nearly 1,000 migrants shall be supported in their reintegration process in Europe and their countries of origin.

Expected results

In Italy, the program provides assistance and orientation in the pre-departure phase, by working out customized reintegration paths, providing orientation and information services. A communication campaign shall be implemented by web channels and information sessions in 4 Italian regions (Lombardy, Piedmont, Liguria and Lazio) in order to inform local administrative bodies and concerned migrants.
In the 8 Latin Americal concerned countries (Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay) the returnee shall be assisted by national help desks (one in each country) providing services of welcoming, integration in training and vocational paths, support in job seeking, psychological and social accompaniment, legal assistance, monitoring of returning process, and eventual financial support to reintegration.
